Instruments • Re: A wavetable synth plugin replacement for my beloved Microwave?

As a "KVR lurker" I've been following this thread with both interest and amusement. For starters, I recently purchased a Waldorf M after having owned a Microwave back in the 90s. I too was a huge fan of that synth but the rackmount form factor wasn't very user friendly and I wasn't a fan of software editors at the time.

Now that I'm much more comfortable using software synthesizers, I too was interested to learn if there might be a synth plugin or sample library that could approximate the sound of the Microwave/M. This seemed like a perfectly reasonable question to ask in a thread.

But then one oddly frustrated, irrationally angry, and seemingly mentally challenged member made a particularly outrageous accusation that the thread creator was somehow trying to inflate the price of Microwaves on the second hand market by making his/her post. It's hard to imagine how someone could be so dumb to think that one relatively obscure post on KVR could affect the prices of used Microwave synthesizers. How was the person making this insulting accusation not banned? If KVR doesn't have a "stupidity clause" / IQ test in order to post on the site, then perhaps they should.

And then another person essentially threatened the original poster by telling him/her that he has a well-documented history of "owning people" on the insane far-right social media site "4chan." So the poster did the the only appropriate thing at that point and told this 4chan creep that he should "probably go back into his mother's basement and commiserate with all the other angry 'incels' ranting on 4chan." Hahaha. That was the PERFECT response to a disturbing threat of this sort. It was both hilarious and spot on. I would bet my life that the percentage of 4chan users who are angry men who are unable to attract a girlfriend is far, far higher than in the average population. So again, the reply was not only witty but moreover scientifically/sociologically accurate and thus no basis for banning the poster. If anyone should have been banned, it was this 4chan sociopath.

And now even I have been accused of creating a "sock puppet" account and that I am in fact "Supercollider" because insane conspiracy theories are part and parcel of the embarrassingly childish KVR experience. Here is my reply to this accusation in the "Depeche Mode Delta Machine - A Synth Pop Modular Masterpiece?" thread that I created:

Haha. I'm a dummy. I get it now. I did a search for "super collider" and came across a KVR member with that username. I am assuming you think I am that person?

That's probably understandable. After reading a few of his/her posts, they immediately struck me as very well-written. I assume this person has some sort of liberal arts degree and did a lot of writing in college or perhaps is required to do a lot of writing at his/her job.

I myself have a Masters degree in English Literature. So yes, I have read quite a few well-written books over the years and have had to write volumes of papers so I too have been forced to learn how to express myself in an articulate, cogent manner.

As much as I admire English teachers (especially at the K12 level,) I wasn't stupid enough to pursue a teaching career. The money is shit and the thought of ignorant parents accusing me of "grooming" their children to become Transexuals seems intolerable. So I work in Finance. That of course comes with its own frustrations such as trying to communicate with "Quant Jocks" who are practically illiterate despite their advanced Math degrees.

It is a bit sad that anyone who writes well on a forum is immediately suspect. But hey, it's the Internet and that just comes with the territory. I hope you will allow me to continue to discuss Depeche Mode's Delta Machine album without any further interruptions. Thank you.

I encourage the KVR moderators to investigate my account if they believe it is a duplicate of another member's account. They will see that I am not using a VPN service because I frankly don't even know how to use one. I have heard of "Nord VPN," but that's the extent of it. And unless Supercollider's and my dog's names are the same and we are both using the same variant on that name, then our account passwords are different (as are our email addresses). Unless I am incredibly clever (which I would love to think I am,) the accounts are unrelated.

Again. knowing how to string a few words together into coherent sentences shouldn't be grounds to ban someone. Can everyone on KVR be so illiterate that anyone who can actually write beyond the sixth-grade level stand out like a sore thumb? I find that hard to believe.
