For a while I was using a cheap HP touch screen, and I just had it on it's back, and that worked perfectly and was ergonomic. My issues with it were more that it was fairly sluggish, single point only, and as has been mentioned, a lot of software just isn't easily controlled in this way. I found that the only time I was using it was with plugins like Omnisphere that have an X-Y control pad, but when I got a Roli Rise, I found it better to just assign things to it's pad which has a nice rubbery feel.
