Computer Setup and System Configuration • Re: A very unique audio driver issue?

Just checking: you ran the Latency monitor while you do what you do when the problem kicks in?
That is: wifi turned off and you have a DAW playing a near-empty project.
I test with a finished full project, the audio in the daw will sound crackled and very distorted like when you have large cpu spikes, but there's no spike in cpu, the the minute I turn the wifi on and have a connection, the problem is gone. I'm not sure what to do at this point short of backing up my files and reinstalling my OS
This sounds very much what I had on a windows daw computer.

Check that no software has autocheck for updates, this is a mess, that fixed all issues, having those turned off.

For some reason software that throws itself on network, when not up, to check for updates create pops and crackles with audio.
- there are calls to do this nicely, check if internet is up first, but they don't use it

Most software you can turn autoupdates off, but not all. Look through settings.

But there are differences in which daw software handle audio as well.
- Cubase Pro was the worst, restarting the full audio engine
- if recording then, recording was stopped even

Cubase Elements just had a little pop, as did StudioOne, Reaper and Sonar.
