You are excused, and yes - this is about economics. You dont get to mansplain away difficult discussion topics when you do not like them, speaking of missing points.Excuse me but the discussion has nothing to do about economics.Meanwhile, the Monkey C dev (the 'Rewind' product that was created to help Bitwig users with the lack of retrospective record) is so invested in community collaboration that they built a "bitwish"-like "feature request" page right into their software so make sure people have a chance to post and vote on their favorite features. You dont even have to leave their plugins to see the feature request pages. Other devs do this as well, in or outside their applications.
We seem to have 2 schools of thought:
1), the die hard laissez-faire capitalist who REALLY, really wants to let businesses manage all their own affairs, run their own tightly censored branded forum/social space where the brand always seems to be right, listen to or ignore customers at will while mostly letting other customers do "community support", and yet still enjoy all the benefits(profits, that's all it is) of selling things at the market, and...
2) the more open, collaborative, cooperatively owned philosophy where customers are embraced, their knowledge and suggestions - for better or worse - are heard, customer service is considered a value-add instead of a problem to be solved, and the business works to find its niche in the artist space rather than telling the artists what their niche will be.
The funny thing, for me, is that there doesnt even need to be any argument between those 2 types of thinking, right now anyway. I mean there is definitely a reckoning coming for all for-profit, extractive, hegemonic economies on the planet, and climate change catastrophes are going to silence all that whining about it being the best economic system any day now, but for now we are arguing about the ever-shifting power dynamic between customer and vendor, which seems to be slipping toward the vendor lately. Time to trim that shit back.
If you think that you miss 100% of the point and I suggest you to read again the argument.
The point of the people who don't want bitwish is not because they want bitwig company to make money. It is because they enjoy the features bitwig propose by themselves and they trust Bitwig more than a community of Karen's....
The *entirety of the western economies* are morphing into rent-seeking feudalist economies as we watch, and all that was once free, open, not paywalled, less expensive, is now the opposite because sellers think this is the "seller's market"(where you get to bully consumers). Everything that was best about the free, open internet and all its connected companies has degraded and enshittified down into what we have now, and Im going to mention it when relevant.
A community of "karen's"? You are losing it. A place for community members - CUSTOMERS - to request features is not the same as white supremacists who weaponize police against black people? WTF is wrong with you?
