I mean you can always fight about things that are subjective.
My subjective feeling from my subjective point of view and things I read
1.) The change to msix in beta 8 seems rushed.
2.) There was no communication beforehand at all. I'm responsible for a microservice template used by many teams in my company. Whenever we change sth. we slip in our (in house) customers shoes and prepare howtos, explanations, migration support models *before* we start to role out things. Like if we'd switch from maven (msi) to gradle (msix) we would prepare that.
3.) They changed it right *after* the anniversary sale ... telling people they don't change the product. In marketing the change in delivery method, packaging ... is a change... at least they told me that in german university.
4.) The history of microsoft, the current development, i.e. just forcedly sending a screenshot of the user every 5 seconds to the cloud, push office to the cloud, development of apples store banditism (look at the EA case) makes me suspicious... are we going the app store route with in app purchases where 1/3 goes to microsoft... my question why change a running system towards *this*?
5.) It was obviously not tested. Which is funny... Because their main Persona/Audience is Nerds (Polarity, Moss, Odo) ... which know their stuff... and as such might have a set of routines to maintain their computers properly. You could have setup a bunch of smoke tests to at least cover some test cases which now pop up one after another.
6.) BW is desperately seeking new sources of revenue to foster growth. Growth which is from what I see a little stagnant in tetms of google trends and company bilance sheet ... as such the move towards app store and in app purchase makes sense as a relacement for paid extensions ... for them as a company, but not for me.
7.) I was stupid enough (aka greedy) to buy a few updates without knowing anything about a future roadmap ... just assuming they dish out daw functional updates and don't start doing things. Note to myself: Don't ever let yourself get trapped again.
As I said. Only my subjective opinion. A few points would have been easy to get of the table with proper preparation...
Now give me names and say all I said is wrong...3,2,1
