Considering impOSCar is an emu of OSCar, then yes. ImpOSCar is very good but it still a way off the raw power of a real OSCar. I was thrilled when impOSCar first came out and it gets probably 85% of the way there, but there are sounds it can't emulate quite as well. Mantis seems to have same dual separatable filters of OSCar, very similar drive character and all of the fat character of an OSCar plus more. Its sound character has Chris Hugget all over it - if you have ever been lucky enough to get your hands on a genuine OSCar, you know how distinctive it is. Almost made for aggressive techno before techno even existed. I used to use real 303s, 202s, 909s, Jupiters/Junos etc back in the 90s and when I first got access to an OSCar it just blew all of those clean out of the water.
From what I can see/hear...Hugget decided to remake a modern OSCar and PWM completed it after he died. Peak & Summit had similar filter architecture but not the sheer power and drive of OSCars. Malevolent looks interesting and has maybe more raucousness but Mantis sounds to me like pure OSCar.
